Report: “Missing Manuscript with Irish Translation of Paradise Lost is Finally Found at University of Illinois”
From the Irish Star:
The manuscript of John Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost was translated into the Irish language in the 19th century. Since then, scholars believed that it was irretrievably lost. Recently, through meticulous examination of an existing microfilm copy in the National Library of Ireland, researchers were finally able to trace its whereabouts.
The manuscript turned out to be at the University of Illinois, at Urbana-Champaign – more specifically in their Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The manuscript had been housed there since 1968 and was filed under an unidentifiable file name.
