New on Flickr: NARA (National Archives, U.S.) Posts Curated Collection of 19th Century Stereographs
GIF versions of the stereographs will be created in about a week at NARA hosted event. You can create your own today!
From NARA:
Stereographs are 19th Century photographs that are two almost identical photographs that appear three dimensional when viewed through a steroscope.
Using the New York Public Library Labs Stereogranimator, we will be making these images into GIFs during a GIF-a-thon hosted at the National Archives’ Innovation Hub on May 21, 2016. Using the software developed by the NYPL Labs we can make 19th century fun into 21st century fun and highlight National Archives holdings in a new light.
